The staff was attentive and gave us recommendations. Our cool and big room came with a fridge, shower, plus a good washroom. Amazing breakfast options, the food was savory.

Greatly enjoyed my fine stay during our visit. The rooms were reasonably large and tidy, included a mini fridge bar, an air conditioning, and a personal safe. A bath in the beautiful bathroom was super awesome. The pool was great and the staff was amiable and accommodating. The location was amazing very close to nature❤

Marvellous local food for breakfast. Large and comfortable room located next to the restaurant, Desert, and Yala safari. Efficient service and excellent value. Particularly attentive staff with a good sense of humor.

Everybody stays there because of safari. And the is no orgqnisation for single persons or for two, like it was in my case. That means you alwáys have to pay the full price for the car. If they would bring some others, you could save money or you could drive more gamedrives.I Ask for that reason but nobody was interestet to go forward. It would be easy to make a list, I need some others,I want only 4 people in my car and so on. I wanted to have more gamedrives, but not for 9140 Rupi per drive. The rangers also charge 5140 Rupie per drive, that means 10000 rupi per day. That´s to much. In Afrcia is the fee between 30 and 50 $, it depends from the area. If you stay longer they give a 3 day or 8 day rate (Queen Elizabeth Park Uganda) In Botswana in Moremi Park is 30 $ for a full day. Masai Mara maybe 50 $ but everywhere you see amimals, more and a lot of different kinds of them. Your money comes back to your eyes and camera.. Thank you Konrad. Beleave I was is in many Parks.

Staff is very apologetic.
Worst value for money. I got to Yala and realized that I could have got accommodation of same quality for 1/3 to 1/4 of the prices in the area. Room was very basic. Tv had one English channel. Bath towel was rough. Pieces of leaves were coming down the ceiling. Light was dim. Staff made many mistakes (I.E.: forgot to make wake-up call, forgot to pack breakfast). When you check out, they tag on another 24% of service charge.

The location was okay. Food is okay.
-The room was very dark: no sufficient light to read. Television only 9 channels in our type of room, most local. No chair in room, only outside where musguitos were eating you. Upon arrival no towels, sanitary supplies; From the 5 hotels we had in Sri Lanka this was the most expensive and the worst in performance

The location was perfect for a safari and the grounds were lovely. The rooms were clean and the beds, although small, were comfortable. The pool was a wonderful place to relax after the safari. Having each room as its own little bungalow is a nice touch, as is listening to the peacocks' call in the morning.
I believe this is the best choice if you want to come to Yala for a safari, but be prepared to really pay for your stay at the Hotel Elephant Reach. The additional 24% added to our bill, and the fact that you had to pay for absolutely everything, even shooting pool, made the cost far too high for the overall quality of the hotel. The food, the rooms and the service was all "okay" but was not comparable to the many other hotels we stayed at during our trip to Sri Lanka. Nice hotel, but we stayed at much better hotels during our vacation for much less money. We would recommend it because of its location and the hotel's grounds only. Hotel Elephant Reach has five star prices at a three star hotel.

Proximity to Yala is really all that constitutes a reason to stay there.
A large numer of insects in the rooms, largely due to location. Hotel is pretty basic. If the price were also basic that would be fine, but it isn't it is charging prices equivalent to some of the very best hotels in Sri Lanka.

Great location - just a short walk to a lovely beach, around 2 km away. Loved spending time in the garden for two days and dining at the restaurant every night.

The hotel is at a good location for Yala National Park and is well laid out. The swimming pool is good for cool down after a day of safari. The dining facilities are good and and cabanas are better than the room. It is worth staying in the cabanas. So try and upgrade to a cabana.
The buildings are getting old and the rooms can be hot. They charge very high prices for soft drinks, compared to other hotel in Sri Lanka. The reception is under staffed and there are no people at the reception with authority to make a decision. They have to call someone at the head office to get any decisions made.

Location
We had prebooked 2 double rooms. At check in we were given a 20% discount voucher for drinks at the pool bar. It was for Sri lankan drinks only and the bar was closed. Rooms were depressing: badly lit, sheets with stains and holes, no hangers in the wardrobe. We asked and were promised hangers and anti-mosquito devices like four times but nothing came. After two of us walked to the reception and shouted one hunger materialised for the two double rooms!!! The pool was unattended and for towels we had to stage a protest that led to a miserable employee having to go outside the hotel (!!!) to get some from the laundry!! The toilet in one room was not working but our pleas for help were entirely ignored until we screamed to the depressed receptionist and she offered another room. Cockroaches were roaming everywhere including in and out of the restaurant. The jeep we were given for our morning safari was a rusty tinbox with a rude guy as driver. The breakfast box given instead of the normal breakfast to take with us to the Yala park trip was an appalling dry chicken sandwich. Our reservation was for three nights but we fled the next morning after a huge fight with the manager who wanted to charge the whole three nights rates. Awful experienc
